A loan helped a member to buy more apples to improve his business.

Ebenezer #3 Group's story

Standly W. is the leader of this group of five borrowers called “Ebenezer #3”. He is 23 years old, is single, and has no children. He is presently a 9th grade student seeking higher education. In the photo, he is the one holding the sign.

For three years, Standly has been selling apples at Broad Street, opposite Sports Commission, in downtown Monrovia, Liberia. The placement of his goods attracts customers and keeps them returning. He started by selling biscuits around downtown Monrovia, but now has a table to sell on.

Standly purchases goods with United States dollars and sells in Liberian dollars and this is a problem for his business because of the foreign exchange rate.

Standly plans to use his 10,000 Liberian dollar portion of this 44,000 Liberian dollar group loan to buy more apples to improve his business. His goal is to grow his business into a shop.
