A loan helped to buy more fertilizer and to pay a plowing fee to support her farmland so that her crops grow well.

Thourn's story

Thourn, 47, lives in a rural village of Preah Vihear Province. She is the mother of three dependent children, and they are still studying in high school. The primary sources of her family’s income are growing rice and working for others for a fee.

Having been with this business for 26 years, she can keep about $3 USD per day as her daily savings. Her rice was destroyed by insects and did not grow well; this is her main challenge.

For Thourn, this is her second loan cycle with VisionFund Cambodia, and she has paid back her past loan completely. She was provided with a decent home appliance for use by her family via the previous loan.

Thourn will use her loan to buy more fertilizer and to pay a plowing fee to support her farmland. She hopes this loan can help her family’s business run more smoothly than before with good income, so that she can update her living well and support her children’s studying.

This loan is special because:

It supports the social and economic well-being of low-income families.
