Kiva Lending Team: SOS from GVHS
We loan because...
We care and want to help those who don't have as much as we do.
A lot of our funds come simply from recycling our paper trash.
Our group is based at Gunnison Valley High School in a small town in the heart of Central Utah, USA. The population of our valley is about 4500, and we have just over 300 students in our school, grades 9-12. Although we are predominantly white, our Hispanic population is growing each year. Most of our Hispanic students have parents who immigrated to the US to give their children more opportunities in life. We call our school service club SOS, which stands form Students Offering Service. Since a lot of the work of the recycling comes from the volunteer efforts of Hispanic students, our focus will be to give money to students or groups whose entrepreneurship directly benefit students or young people trying to seize opportunities. We openly invite any parents, faculty, and community members to join our efforts to lend on kiva.
