Kiva Lending Team: Amigos de El Salvador
We loan because...
We want to make a positive difference for Salvadorans by helping the poor help themselves.
This group is for Salvadorenos and friends of El Salvador who want to contribute to positive change in El Salvador by helping the poor help themselves in a way that supports rather than destroys the environment, that creates or maintains socially productive jobs, and that contributes to the health and education of receiving communities. We learn how we can best use the $ toward.these goals, and apply what we learn in how we make our loans. In doing so, I am moving away from agricultural loans because they mostly use pesticides, but I continue to support borrowers we add value: they are not just reselling articles, but are applying labor to produce value. I am also a big supporter of people borrowing to build or improve their modest homes.
