Kiva Lending Team: Lending A Hand Up
We loan because...
We rarely take the time to think of the poverty that is outside of our day-to-day field of view. Millions are dying each day because of lack of food, water, medicine, shelter, etc. The only reason our lives are different is because we were lucky enough to be born in a part of the world where we have abundant resources and nearly unlimited opportunities.
We lend to those with need in appreciation for our "Luck of the draw" and in hopes that they will be able to utilize our resources to create their own opportunity.
We believe in an obligation to give back some of what we have been blessed with to those that have not been as fortunate. We are not trying to provide hand-outs because it will only be a quick-fix. We are Lending a Hand Up so that they have the financial support and a chance to achieve their dreams of self-sufficiency.
