We loan because...
We're on a mission...

About us
Our loans won’t make the world fair, but they may, hopefully, make it just a tad fairer... Team co-captain Russell Wild is an author and fee-only (sells no products, earns no commissions) financial planner, and Nancy Nelson is a former fee-only financial planner and now retirement life mentor. Through their businesses, and personally, they’ve met many fortunate (usually hard-working) people who have achieved financial independence. Does that perhaps describe you? If so, Kiva's proven approach of helping others to help themselves through small loans might be a perfect fit. Studies show that lending, even more than giving, can help people in impoverished areas live better lives. Through Kiva, you can actually see differences in the lives of those you’ve lent money. It can be thrilling! Keep in mind that what seems like a very small amount of money here in the Western World, perhaps no more than you might blow on a movie ticket, can make a huge difference in the life of someone in, say, Ghana, Honduras, or Indonesia. A unique benefit to this form of helping others is that if you've been reluctant to donate significant sums of money because of the (not always irrational) fear that someday you, or perhaps a loved one, may need the money back, with Kiva you have that option of return. (Kiva loans are subject to default, although that happens infrequently, and the risk can be largely diversified away.)... Join Team Fairchance, won't you please?
