Kiva Lending Team: Order of the White Hat Cowboy Fellowship
We loan because...
we're the "Good Guys."
"A man's got to have a code, a creed to live by, no matter his job."
-- John Wayne
Even though the “Cowboy Code” was, at first, never written down officially (until much later), every true Cowboy (and Cowgirl) had it engraved and leatherbound in their hearts. Chivalry, hospitality, steadfastness, loyalty and generosity were each and collectively parts of the old “Code of the West.
This Code was First chronicled by the famous western writer, Zane Grey, in his 1934 novel The Code of the West.
In the early 20th Century, with the advent of the cinema “Wild, Wild West,” all good “buckaroos” wore white hats (while, of course, the “bad guys” wore black. Not true, but it was a symbol that was followed throughout many of the iconic cowboy movies & TV series of the forties, fifties, and beyond.
And so, as did the Knights of old, this Order is established to reward and encourage the continuing of such lofty, yet common sense ideals with the badge of the True Cowboy: the white hat.
