We loan because...
Schooner Amistad - a recreation of a historical vessel retraced in 2007/2008 the infamous triangle of slave trade representing not only Connecticut and the United States but all who believe that collective intelligence and goodness of humanity can rise above ignorance and evil.
Amistad sailed into Freetown, Sierra Leone in December 2007 and stayed there for two months. She is for Sierra Leoneans a symbol of freedom and hope; they call it Sengbe’s boat [after Sengbe Pieh, the leader of the Africans in a historic revolt in 1839]. For us to sail it in, was an honor and a privilege.

We have witnessed personally in Sierra Leone how little is needed to make a real change in life of the people. Sierra Leone is still the last country on the UN Human Development Index.

About us
Everybody who believes in the Amistad's mission is welcome to join.
