We loan because...
Project A-Kiva

The words of Rabbi Akiva spoken centuries ago ring just as true today: “Love your fellow as yourself”.

CFJS’s newest initiative, Project A-kiva, applies these words to Maimonides’ eighth and highest level of charity: helping those in need so that they no longer have to depend on others.

Campuses across Canada will have the opportunity to contribute to the provision of microfinance loans to empower individuals in the developing world to start businesses, ending the cycle of poverty for them and their families.

The process is simple: campuses contribute a small amount (minimum $10) to the national CFJS account. The money is invested in a project via Kiva, chosen by the student leader spearheading the project on each campus.
