- I have been given much. Even though I have struggled financially over the years as a single mother, I know I am much richer than most of the world. I want to be able to help women with children to make better lives for themselves. I love to garden, so I like to help women who are involved in raising food.

- I am a teaching professor emeritus of English. I am the mother of a beautiful 34 year old son, a guardian of one rescue dog, a gardener, guitar player and singer. I read books as I breathe air. I have a deep concern for people throughout the world who are struggling for even their basic human needs.
