A loan of $2,450 helped a member to buy tables,chairs and other equipment.

Singida Group's story

Mwanahamisi, who is in her late 40s, is single with three children. One of her children is in school and the other two have finished school. For seven years now, Mwanahamisi has been managing her family by running a restaurant. She works from 7 am to 5 pm daily and is able to make a good monthly profit.

This will be her fourth loan from Kiva partner, Tujijenge Tanzania. Mwanahamisi used her previous loans to replace old working equipment like a few tables and chairs. She also bought more stock of cooking supplies. With her profit, she bought a plot of land and paid for food expenses and school fees. Mwanahamisi will use this loan to buy new business tables, chairs and other working equipment. She dreams of improving her business, owning a house and owning a private car.

She will share this loan with her loan group SINGIDA, which consists of six members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
