Imara Group's story

Imara Group is a group of 23 farmers in Chwele District, represented by Alice. The group has 14 women and 9 men. Alice is on the right of the photo with a blue scarf on her neck.

Farming inputs will be delivered to Alice on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant 0.5 acres of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum. Alice joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2011 and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Alice joined One Acre Fund, so that she could gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and grow enough food for the family.

Alice described her last year's harvest as excellent and, as a One Acre Fund farmer, she hopes for another good year in the 2013 Long Rains season. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and to repair her home.

During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive on credit 0.5 acres of agricultural inputs. In total, Imara Group will receive 11.5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
