Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $425 helped to purchase more spoons, bowls, and plates for her business.

Garmah's story

Garmah is a 39 year old woman who lives in West Point, one of the most populated and well-known markets in Montserrado County. She did not attend school. She is single and has four children between the ages of 18 to 28. Two of her children live on their own.

For the past six years she has been selling spoons, bowls, and plates at the local market. Sometimes she has a hard time selling her products, but most of the time she realizes a profit. Her earnings are used to sustain her family. Garmah is requesting a loan to purchase more spoons, bowls, and plates for her business. She hopes to build a house in the near future.
