A loan of $200 helped to buy six head of sheep to fatten in order to sell later.

Kety's story

Kety is 27 years old. She lives with her husband with whom she has three children aged 10, 5, and 2 years. This family lives in their own home located in an agricultural and livestock district. Kety is a diligent and hardworking mother.

She became a mother at an early age. Since then she decided to work in agriculture on land that her parents gave her. Now she says that she gets the most satisfaction from the livestock. “I have more than 50 rams, that were raised in the highlands, when they are grown I sell or butcher them,” she says. She makes good profits on the sales from the meat, skin, innards, and more that she sells in a make-do stand in the district marketplace.

Katy has big goals including expanding her crop fields and improving the breed of her animals. For now she is working raising more sheep, to continue her meat business. This is her fourth loan through MFP. She promises to make her monthly payments on time. In addition she affirms that working with her communal bank “Mirando un futuro mejor,” is united, collaborative, and is supportive of the other members.

She will invest the 500 soles in the purchase of 6 head of sheep to fatten for later sale.
