Amos' Group's story

Pictured here are teachers of a primary school in Koidu, a city in Eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, to apply for a loan of 4,000,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) in order to meet their immediate financial challenges. At the end of each month, they will repay the loan using their monthly salaries. Their school's bursar is directly responsible for making the deductions and repayments on their behalf.
Amos is the leader of this group. He is 49 years old and a native of Mononya in Eastern Sierra Leone. He is divorced and has three children, one of whom is in college. Amos has served in the teaching profession for four years now. He has requested this loan in order to pay college fees for his child.
