Marlene's story

Marlene is 31 years old, she lives together with Beltrán, who is the father of their 4 children, whose ages range between 3 and 11 years old. They live in a house of their own located in the district of Perené - Chanchamayo. She is a tireless and hard working woman. She has been selling clothes at her city's Sunday markets for 5 years at a stand she rents for her business. "I'm doing well, polo shirts and pants is what I sell the most", she says. Also, she mentions that she is concerned with offering pretty and fashionable clothes, which is why she sells them so easily. Marlene is constantly traveling to Lima (capital city) to acquire the merchandise she needs, she invests from 2000 to 3000 soles for that, but she ends up getting them back and making a profit. Since she is not a conformist, this month she will work in agriculture in a plot of land she acquired. She will grow coffee and bananas. One of her goals is to get a car to move with more ease, since her crops are located far away from her home. This is the first time Marlene gets an MFP loan. As far as she is concerned, she says she will be on time with her monthly repayments. She will invest all the money she is asking for in the purchase of merchandise, this is, all kinds of clothes to sell at her stand and at Sunday markets.
