Josephine is 41 years old and is married with four children. She is from Cabilinan, Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur. For the past eight years, Josephine has owned and operated a sari-sari (variety) retail store where she sells daily-use products such as shampoo, soap, and toothpaste in the local community. She earns 8,000 PHP each month. Josephine joined GDMPC in 2007 to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities.
Josephine is requesting a 15,000 PHP loan to purchase additional products to sell such as deodorant, soap, milk and other items. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from her loan to pay tuition fees for her children and to save for the future.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
