Mona is a 49-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and four children. Three of her children are working and the other is still attending school. Because of the heavy living expenses, Mona’s husband is obliged to work hard in order to cover their needs. He has been working on his own since 1989. As for Mona, she has been working in the agricultural field for the past twenty five years. She decided to have her own land in 1990, where she now cultivates all kinds of vegetables. Today, she needs to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to purchase a shop where she can sell her products. This will certainly boost her productivity and thus her revenues. In the future, she plans to take more Kiva loans and improve her business.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
