Peregrine
A loan of $15,000 helps a woman-owned mobile dog grooming company buy an additional mobile unit and better serve loyal customers.

Peregrine's story
I grew up in a home shaped by both struggle and unexpected joy. My mother battled mental illness, and even though we didn’t have toys or extra money, she would surprise us by bringing home stray dogs or cats. Those animals were our comfort, our playmates, and our first lessons in gentleness. She taught us to respect animals and treat them with dignity, lessons that stayed with me long after I entered the foster system. As a single mother now, those values guide me as I raise my son and as I serve our community through Fresh Tails.
My entrepreneurial spirit was born out of kindness. After COVID, my son and I offered free dog baths at our neighborhood park on Valentine’s Day weekend to bring people together through their shared love of dogs. That moment showed me how powerful a simple act of service could be. Today, I stand as a resilient business owner who has pushed through challenges, learned from every setback, and stayed committed to showing others—especially youth and families like mine—that kindness and perseverance can create opportunities. My dream is to keep growing a business that uplifts entire neighborhoods through care, community, and connection.
