Annie's story

I was born and raised in Alabama, where some of my most cherished memories were made cooking outdoors under a big China Berry tree with my Aunt Laura. She was the best chef I knew, although my parents would get upset when I said that, but it was my truth. I would watch her closely, studying every ingredient she used, every pinch of spice she added. One day, I finally got the courage to ask if I could help. She smiled and said yes. As I reached for the spices, my hands trembled while I shook the bottle, glancing at her for approval to make sure I had just the right amount. That day, she taught me a lesson that has guided my life: when you make good food, you make good friends.

My personal background is deeply tied to my business because cooking was never just about food—it was about love, connection, and community. The values I learned under that tree in Alabama are the same values I pour into every gourmet chicken patty I make today.

In 1970, I moved to New Jersey to begin a new chapter, where I met my husband and raised three children. Years later, while helping my youngest daughter with her daycare of 22 picky eaters, I created my first gourmet chicken patty. The children loved them, and soon families were asking for more. That encouragement fueled my passion and showed me there was something special in what I had created.

After moving to South Carolina, I continued perfecting my gourmet chicken patties. I was featured on Food Network, opened my own restaurant, became licensed to sell worldwide, and secured a patent for my product.

Today, my gourmet chicken patties are sold in Piggly Wiggly stores across South Carolina and Alabama. With this Kiva loan, I will purchase commercial equipment to meet growing grocery demand and serve busy families seeking healthy, convenient meals on the go.
