Las Raquelitas De San Julian Group's story
With an enterprising vision and constant desire for self-improvement, Elizabeth has transformed her effort into opportunities for her family. She is 39 years old, is married to a light transport pilot, and has 3 children, including two who are 11 and 17 years old. Two of her children are in school, one in fifth grade and the other in the second year of high school. The older child only completed sixth grade. Elizabeth trained as a secretary, but did not practice this profession.
For 7 years, she has been dedicated to selling shaved ice, ice cream, and fruit from her home. In addition, for 4 years, she has managed her own store where she sells products from catalogs, secondhand clothing, women's accessories, and cooking utensils, relying on help from her daughter.
Motivated to continue growing, Elizabeth requests her eleventh Kiva loan to invest in buying animal feed, corn, and more products for her business. Her goal is to strength and grow her business.
"Las Raquelitas de San Julian" is the name of The Friendship Bridge loan group. It includes 8 Spanish-speaking women. They lives in the department/state of Suchitepéquez and are dedicated to selling fruit, beans, firewood, and tortillas. In their monthly meetings, these women learn about useful topics (business, health, family, women's issues) using images, role-playing, and games. The themes that stand out are about entrepreneurship and saving.
The members are thankful to the Kiva lenders.
