A loan of $5,625 helps a member to buy more pigs, free-range chickens and feed to improve the rearing of her animals.

Color Morado Group's story
Through hard work and dedication, Ana has learnt to turn her daily work into opportunities for her family. She is twenty-five years old, married, and the mother of two children aged five and seven. Her eldest is currently attending nursery school. Although she was only able to study up to Year 3 due to the financial difficulties her family faced, this has not prevented her from getting ahead. Her husband is a primary school teacher and works in his profession, and together they work to provide a better future for their children.
For the past four years, Ana has been raising free-range chickens and pigs, which she sells from home. Over time, she decided to expand her work and, a year ago, she and her husband began growing cardamom on their own land, a product she also sells at the local market. Ana is applying for her first Kiva loan to buy more pigs, free-range chickens and feed to improve the rearing of her animals. Her goal is to continue expanding her farm and generating higher income.
The nine women who make up The Friendship Bridge "Color Morado" Community Bank are from the department of Quiché. They benefit from the monthly training sessions of the "Microcrédito Plus" programme. Information on how to avoid over-indebtedness, sound investment and saving helps women manage their cardamom farming and livestock rearing businesses.
Women like Ana are grateful to Kiva lenders!
