Carmen Stalina's story
Carmen is 59 years old. She is single with children. She lives in Atacames, a touristic, commercial and agricultural city like Salinas y Ballenita. It is located in northern Ecuador.
Carmen is a very hardworking woman who is always thinking of how to improve her financial situation. Twenty years ago, she began in the activities of selling products such as beverages and juices as a step toward her own business. Carmen began this activity because she contributes to the household expenses. Carmen will use this activity to be more financially stable.
Carmen is applying for a loan of 2,500 dollars with which she will purchase construction materials to fix up the retail space. She will purchase a cooler, a freezer, utensils, work tables, and chairs to have stability in her business and, so, be able to increase her income. Carmen is very enthusiastic about this loan and does not want to lose face with the institution which will offer her financial support.
