Flor De Jazmin 1 Group

Flor De Jazmin 1 Group's story

Cesilia is 38 years old, and says that her parents gave her the opportunity to study until 6th grade, and then she told them she did not want to continue studying. She liked to work with her parents, as she would help her mother with the business where she sold French fries, and her father in the countryside to clean and cut coffee.

Cesilia is a single mother of one daughter. She found out about the Asociación Chajulense de Mujeres Unidas por la Vida and about the loans being offered to women from a friend. She used her first loan to buy a cart to sell French fries. The second loan was used to plant coffee.

She is requesting this loan, which would be her third, to expand her business by buying another cart, oil, potatoes, salt, and ketchup.

Cesilia is the leader of the Flor de Jazmin 1 Group, which is made up of 3 women of the Maya Ixil ethnicity. The two other members will use the loan to invest in agriculture. On average, each member has two children, and is 32 years old. One member is illiterate while two members finished primary school.
