Sofa-Bomso Group
A loan of $1,175 helps a member to buy oil palm pruning tools (Malaysian knives, poles and chisels).

Sofa-Bomso Group's story
Serendipalm Farmers Association (SOFA-Bomso) is among the Organic and Fair-trade certified Oil Palm farmers located in Akim-Bomso in the Kwaebibirem District of the Eastern Region of Ghana, West Africa. The group comprises about 120 farmers and is led by Odame. The loan, when raised, will benefit 8 farmers from the group, enabling them to purchase pruning tools to prune and harvest their organic oil palms. This will improve yield and make harvesting of their oil palm field easier.
Odame believes that organic oil palm is sustainable and helps develop his community through job creation and fair trade infrastructure projects. The farming work allows him to support his family financially and the community as a whole.
