A loan of $1,100 helps to purchase more household supplies like rice.

Sandra's story
Sandra is 32 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the central region of Uganda. She is married and has one child who is currently in school.
For the past eight years, Sandra has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells household supplies like rice, pasta, snacks, and cooking oils.
To help expand her business, Sandra has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more household supplies like rice, pasta, snacks, cooking oils, salad dressings, sauces, spreads, herbs, spices, seasonings, breakfast cereals, jam, honey, and sugar, and salt for sale.
This will help Sandra to generate greater profits and manage to provide enough food for her family. Sandra hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house of her own and expand the business more. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have the collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
