Kuluthum's story

Kuluthum is 29 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the central region of Uganda. She is married and has two children who are all currently in school.

For the past three years, Kuluthum has been working hard to manage her beverage business, which sells soft drinks like juice. To help expand her business, Kuluthum has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda.

The loan will be used to buy more soft drinks like sodas, juice, and water to sell. This will help Kuluthum to generate greater profits and his production will increase and attract more revenue.

She will manage to provide basic needs for her family like food and clothes for her children. Kuluthum hopes that in the future she will be able to make plans to set up a wholesale shop that sells soft drinks.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have the collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
