A loan of $6,525 helps a member to purchase chickens to raise, sets of pots, and corn in bulk.

Mujeres Tu Puedes Group's story
With enthusiasm and commitment, Odilia has taken on the challenge of contributing to the sustenance of her household from a very young age. She is twenty-one years old, in a common-law marriage, and is the mother of a child who is two years and three months old. Odilia reached the ninth grade, but interrupted her studies when she entered into a relationship with her spouse, who works as a mason.
For three years, Odilia has operated a small tortilla-making business in her house, where she serves her neighbors with dedication. Likewise, she works raising creole chickens and selling household utensils in the same space, activities which she operates on her own.
Odilia asks for her first Kiva loan to purchase more creole chickens to raise, sets of pots, and corn in bulk. Her purpose is to expand her productive activities, satisfy her buyers' demand, and strengthen the family income.
There are seven women in Friendship Bridge's Mujeres Tu Puedes communal bank, from the department/state of Huehuetenango. The majority of them work selling tortillas, cooking utensils, chicken with french fries, raising domesticated animals, selling casual clothing, snacks, vegetables, shoes, and bedding. The Microcrédito Plus program is important for these women, as it offers them monthly training, where they learn about health, business, family and women's topics.
The partnership between Kiva and Friendship Bridge is important for the progress and success of these women. Thank you!
