One Acre Fund

One Acre Fund's story

One Acre Fund provides smallholder farmers with financing for agricultural inputs, solar products, and training they need to grow their way out of hunger and poverty. Women are the primary farmers in the majority of smallholder households, where many families survive on less than $1 per person per day. With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase improved seed, fertilizer, and solar products and extend them on credit to approximately 20,000 farmers ahead of Malawi's planting season. In Malawi, approximately 70% of One Acre Fund’s clients are women-farmers who are central to their households’ nutrition and livelihoods.

On average, farmers supported by One Acre Fund increase farm profits on supported activities by 35–40%. These gains mean more stable meals, school fees for their children, and greater resilience for their families.
