Abaas
A loan of $1,275 helps to buy maize to sell.

Abaas' story
Abaas is 29 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda Region of Uganda. He is married and has one child who is currently in school.
For the past 10 years, Abaas has been working hard to manage his business transporting maize. To help expand his business, he has requested a loan of 4,500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda to buy maize to sell, helping him to generate greater profits. He plans to use his profits to pay school fees for his child. Abaas hopes that, in the future, he will be able to construct a house.
Abbas is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves members, like him, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
