Resty's story

Resty is 52 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has seven children with none of them currently in school. For the past three years, Resty has been working hard to manage her grocery, which sells tomatoes, raw food, and onions. 

To help expand her business, Resty has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more items for the grocery shop, and will help Resty to generate greater profits and Improve on sales and income and eventually the standard of living . 

Resty hopes that in the future she will be able to construct rentals. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
