A loan of $850 helps to buy raw food for cooking.

Harriet's story
Harriet is 46 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 2 children who are all currently in school. For the past 4 years, Harriet has been working hard to manage her food market. To help expand her business, Harriet has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more matooke for selling, and will help Harriet to generate greater profits, boost the business and increase on the sales and revenue. Harriet hopes that in the future she will be able to construct her own house. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
