A loan of $7,950 helps to purchase organic hens and organic feed.

Milo's story
She is a 72-year-old member of the Akha tribe living in Wawee Village in the hills of Northern Thailand, near the Myanmar border. She is asking for a loan to purchase 800 hens to produce organic free-range eggs for Hilltribe Organics (HTO), the social enterprise which created the market for organic free-range eggs in Thailand, using organic agriculture to help poor farmers like her out of poverty.
This will be her 1st loan with KIVA for her HTO egg farm. Before she started with HTO, she used to grow conventional vegetables on her family land and was barely able to make ends meet. Caring for her hens and selling their eggs provides her and her family continuous monthly income and allows her to have a respectable life. In 2022, Hilltribe Organics was named "the Most Sustainable Farming Model in Thailand" by the Thailand Department of Livestock Development and won the 2022 global Sustainable Food Farming Award from UKNGO Compassion in World Farming.
