Boul Falle Group's story

Wassaba is the president of the group "Boul Falle Mancononding." In Wolof, "Boul Falle" means "Indifferent." She is the one who has caught the plate of vegetables in the photo. Wassaba, 56, is in the market farming business like the other women who are members of her group. She is married and the mother of three children between the ages of eight and fourteen. She did not receive an education—but all her children are in school.

Wassaba's group is made up of sixteen upstanding women, of whom one is missing from the photo (Fatou). She all decided to join forces to ask for a loan to develop their market-farming activities. Wassaba is quite experienced in this domain, which she has been involved in for more than fifteen years. She buys seeds at the market and resells her vegetables at weekly markets, realizing an annual take of 110,000 .

Thanks to this income, she manages to provide for her children's needs in the spheres of school, nutrition, and health.

Among other hardships Wassaba has encountered, we may note failure to meet strong customer demand and lack of access to financial institutions.

In this group: Wassaba, Meta, Mame, Dienaba, Soukounda, Faty, Seyni, Aramata, Maimouna, Mariama, Mabintou, Soumaro, Fatou, Coumbel, Nene, Gnima
