A loan of $15,000 helps fuel a family-owned restaurant and bakery by supporting payroll, equipment, and daily operations.

Sausan's story
You might be wondering how you ended up in a restaurant that blends flavors from across the globe — a fusion of Latin and Middle Eastern culture. Well, that’s my story.
My journey begins in 1972, when my family migrated from Palestine to Puerto Rico. That’s where, I, Sausan was born. Growing up, my siblings and I learned to embrace and celebrate both cultures, creating a rich foundation of tradition, flavor, and family.
Later, I moved with my mother, sister, and children to Chicago. It was there that I began baking for my loved ones, turning my passion into a creative outlet after work. What started as a hobby soon became something more — and Susu’s Dream Cakes was born.
As the bakery grew, so did my vision. Alongside my sister and children, I expanded the business with love and dedication, each of them bringing our own flavor and heart to the table. Together, we dreamed of a space that celebrated the Latin and Middle Eastern roots they cherished — all while staying true to our values by using halal meats and ingredients.
Our business is a celebration of culture, community, and culinary fusion — a unique blend of halal Latin and Middle Eastern cuisine, inspired by the neighborhoods we’ve grown up in and loved for years.
