And Niaffe Group's story

Awa, a 48-years-old trader,  is the "And Niaffe" group's president, which means "Union for Work" in French. She is seated in the front row with her right hand raised. Married to a farmer, she provides for her three children, whose ages range from four to fifteen, one of whom attends school.

Awa is a creditworthy client at VFS (VisionFund Senegal); she has been running her business for 10 years. With this loan, she would buy diverse merchandise (fish, onions, vegetables, diverse...). This will allow her to strengthen her business and increase her income. To stock up on merchandise, she goes to the weekly markets in her locality to later sell them in her neighborhood and surrounding areas.

The profits that she makes allow her to provide for her family’s needs in these realms: health, food, education, and hygiene.

Among the challenges that she encounters, we can mention high competition, inflation, and high transportation costs.

Awa hopes to rent a spot at the market and develop her business at the national level.

In this group: Awa, Nenedio, Moussou, Dialika, Alimatou, Adama, Gnima
