Antonia Maribel's story

Antonia is legally married, but has been separated from her husband for a long time.  She lives with her three children aged 13, 19 and 23 years old.  She recently became a grandmother.  She does not have relatives living abroad.

Antonia's business involves making plantain empanadas and other street foods to sell.  She started the business 10 years ago; she learnt how to do it from some neighbours.  She has one employee and she works from Monday to Sunday.  In the mornings she prepares the products and in the afternoons she goes out to sell them.  She also has wholesale customers who buy from her in bulk for subsequent resale.

She is applying for a loan to obtain the economic resources needed to improve her business.  Antonia will buy plantains, sugar, milk, oil and so on to replenish her inventory for selling plantain empanadas and other snacks.  The investment will enable her to increase her sales and income, because her procurement costs will be reduced and she will be able to meet the demand from her customers.

Antonia's goals are to grow her business and generate more income to meet her commitments and leave a secure legacy for the future of her children.
