Mariatu's story
Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 47-year-old Mariatu from the Lunsar Branch. She is a married businesswoman with seven children, ranging in age from 3 to 28 years old. Five are currently attending school. She started this business to support her family.
Mariatu runs a retail business and sells drinks to her customers around the community. She has been in this business for the past 16 years. Mariatu says that her challenge is the slow sales of her product during the rainy season.
She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more drinks, including Vimto, Fanta, Coca-Cola, and water, to increase her business. Mariatu says that the extra income from this lone will help to take care of her family. In the future, she would like to expand on a large scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
