Bercita Monserrate's story
Bercita, age 53, is a committed, determined woman who is in a common-law marriage with her partner, the father of her children, who are now grown up and have left home to start their own families.
Bercita now lives alone with her partner, working in the fields to support themselves day to day. They no longer do this on a large scale, but they do continue to plant fine-aroma cacao beans.
To that end, Bercita is applying for a loan to purchase fertilizers, organic soil amendments, compost, seeds for planting, and other agricultural inputs which will help her to continue boosting her business. Likewise, Bercita continues to learn and receive training from agricultural professionals so that she can use more effective techniques to prepare her crops.
