A loan of $4,000 helps a preschool expand its playground, invest in advertising to attract more students and hire staff.

Dilcia's story
Ever since I was seven years old in Honduras, I dreamed of becoming a teacher. My cousin and I would create pretend schools, and I always insisted on playing the teacher. Those memories still bring me joy and are a big part of why I started my preschool — to give children the same sense of wonder and love for learning that I felt at their age.
I came to the United States with my mother when I was eleven. As a single parent, she worked hard and made many sacrifices to give me a better future. Watching her struggle with language barriers while still supporting my education inspired me to help children and families, especially those facing similar challenges. I’ve always felt a deep connection to children and becoming a nanny, eventually for Judy Garland’s grandchildren, which confirmed that working with kids is my calling.
Today, running my preschool is more than just a business it’s a lifelong passion rooted in my own journey, and a way to give back to the community that shaped me.
