María is 69 years old. She attended school until the second grade, is married, and her children are now grown and independent.

María makes and sells atole (a traditional Mexican hot beverage). She has more than 20 years of experience in this work, which she learned on her own initiative to generate income, and this has allowed her to make ends meet.
