A loan of $6,600 helps a member to buy different types of medications.

Las Orquideas Group's story
Lisbeth is 45 years old, married, and is a mother of five children whose ages go from seventeen to twenty-eight. One of them is in the first year of middle school, two had a full education and two completed a nine-year-education. She was only able to study for two years because she had to work in different houses since she was nine years old due to a lack of opportunities.
Lisbeth’s husband works as a medical visitor. For the past seventeen years she has worked as a street vendor selling natural and synthetic medicines in a nearby market. She performs this activity with her husband and one of their children.
Also, for the past three years Lisbeth has reared free-range chickens, which she sells from her house and at the local market. Her daughter helps her by taking care of the animals. She’s requesting a third Kiva loan to buy a variety of medications in bulk. Lisbeth’s goals are to keep strengthening her business and have a shop of her own to sell her products.
There are seven women comprising the communal bank of Friendship Bridge “Las Orquídeas”. They manage businesses such as food sales, grocery stores, sale of medications, firewood, and rearing domestic animals. These women really appreciate the monthly trainings they get covering four essential topics: health, family, women, and businesses. They share what they learn with family and friends.
Thank you for taking the time to know these women and funding their loans!
