A loan of $6,925 helps a member to buy more chickens, chicken feed, and clothing, and start a new business selling cosmetics.

Bellas Flores Group's story
Twenty-five-year-old Berta, a mother of three children ranging in age from four to eight, has big plans for her business life. Seven years ago, she opened a business raising chickens that she sells from her home. Three years ago, she started selling casual clothing from her home, and now she hopes to add two more businesses selling cosmetics and shoes. She is married to a day laborer and has six years of formal education. She requests her third Kiva loan to buy more chickens, feed for them, clothing, and cosmetics. She wants to start selling shoes, as well as increasing the number of animals in her pens.
Berta joined seven women who live in the department/state of Suchitepequea, and formed the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Bellas Flores”. They are happy to participate in the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education, and healthcare. Most of them raise livestock, sell casual clothing, and complete meals, or manage convenience stores. Their monthly educational training enables them to learn about an aspect of four topics, including business, family matters, health, and women’s issues. Every other month, they have access to basic healthcare services.
Berta and her friends are tremendously appreciative of the kindness and generosity of Kiva lenders! Thank you to each of you!
