Florence's story
Florence is 46 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in Uganda's Central region. She is married and has 4 children, 2 of whom are currently in school. For the past 10 years, Florence has been working hard to manage her pub.
To help expand her business, Florence has requested a loan of 1,800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase additional items for brewing local liquor, help Florence generate greater profits, invest more in her business, and buy food for her family.
Florence hopes that in the future she will be able to educate all three of her remaining kids up to university.
She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program, which primarily serves small-group members like her who lack collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
