Medias' story
Medias is 37 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children with 4 of them currently in school.
For the past 15 years, Medias has been working hard to manage her restaurant and boutique, which sell cooked food and clothes. To help expand her business, Medias has requested a loan of 6,000,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes and food for cooking and will help Medias to generate greater profits and will be able to improve her standard of living.
Medias hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
