Fatumah's story

Fatumah is 33 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children with 1 of them currently in school.

For the past 3 years, Fatumah has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food. To help expand her business, Fatumah has requested a loan of 4,500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more food for cooking and will help Fatumah to generate greater profits and will be able to educate her children. Fatumah hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
