A loan of $1,125 helps to buy more general merchandise for resale.

Rose's story
Rose is 54 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Kiyinda region of Uganda. She is married and has 5 children who are all currently in school. For the past seven years, Rose has been working hard to manage her retail shop, selling salt, soap, rice, and sugar. To help expand her business, Rose has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more general merchandise for sale, helping Rose to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living. Rose hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her, who lack collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that qualify for microloans.
