Joseline Aidah's story

Joseline Aidah is 34 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Central region of Uganda. She is married and has four children who are all currently in school. For the past eight years, she has been working hard to manage her pub business, which sells a variety of local liquor beverages.

To help expand her business, Joseline Aidah has requested a loan of 3,500,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more items to brew the local liquor, and will help her to generate greater profits, invest more in her business and buy food for her family. Joseline Aidah hopes that in the future she will be able to educate all three remaining kids up to university.

She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
