Zainah's story

Zainah is 32 years old and lives in the town of Kiyinda in the Central region of Uganda. She is married and has three children with two of them currently in school.

For the past 10 years, Zainah has been working hard to manage her boutique, selling all kinds of adult clothes, including dresses, tops and bottoms. To help expand her business, Zainah has requested a loan of 2,500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more fashionable dresses, tops and bottoms for resale. It will help Zainah generate greater profits and provide some basic needs and food for her family.

Zainah hopes that in the future she will be able to become a powerfull business woman and own a big shop in town. She is a member of BRAC's microfinance program which primarily serves small-group members like her, who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
