A loan of $6,500 helps launch and scale a Reiki school, creating accessible and responsible spiritual education.

Meesa's story
My name is Meesa and I am an Acupuncturist, Energy Worker, and the founder of Reclaiming Reiki, a school dedicated to restoring the lineage, integrity and accessibility of traditional Reiki practice to place back in the hands of the BIPOC community. My work is rooted in helping people reconnect to themselves, rebuild trust in their own innate intelligence, and reclaim their healing power—especially those who have been historically left out of modern wellness spaces due to access and resource deficits.
I started my career as an Acupuncturist and I quickly saw the same pattern again and again: people came to me not just with pain, but with deep exhaustion from carrying emotional, generational, and societal burdens on their own, in our dis-jointed and scattered society. Many of them had tried everything—medications, talk therapy, multiple diagnoses—but still felt disconnected from their bodies and their intuition. Reiki became one of the most transformative modalities I offered. It met people exactly where they were. It restored softness where the world demanded hardness. It gave people a way to ground, re-center and breathe again.
Over time, I began training students in Reiki, and something profound happened: they experienced the same empowerment and transformation I had seen myself and in my patients. Teaching showed me that Reiki is not just a healing practice—it is a lineage that teaches personal responsibility, deep presence, and community care. I realized that building a school dedicated to this work could ripple healing outward far beyond what I could offer one-on-one.
That is why I am building Reclaiming Reiki—a training school that offers comprehensive Reiki education grounded in integrity, trauma awareness, and meaningful apprenticeship. My goal is to train practitioners who are ethical, confident and truly capable of holding space for and with others. I am especially passionate about making Reiki education accessible to women, single-parents, CIPOC practitioners, and those transitioning into healing arts careers without institutional support.
I am applying for this Kiva loan because I am at a critical point in the development of my school. I have the curriculum, the community, the experience, and the demand—what I need now are the organizational and launch resources to bring Reclaiming Reiki fully into form. The loan will help cover the costs of building the educational platform, creating the student manual, upgrading my teaching space, and marketing the first cohort.
As a single practitioner, I have always funded my work independently, but expanding into a school requires upfront tools that will help me scale and serve more people. With this support, I will be able to train multiple cohorts per year and create a sustainable income stream for my business while offering scholarships for low-income students.
My mission with Reclaiming Reiki is simple: To empower people to reclaim their healing and reclaim their power.
